Naná Vasconcelos, the worldly renowned musician, recognized as the best percussionist of the world by the media in several occasions, releases his new album.
Chegada (Arrival), track that entitles the new album, was written originally in the 70’s, when Naná lived in Paris. His musical inspiration for this title was the image of the first African that laid his feet in Brazilian soil. More than 30 years later, the song Chegada received a new arrangement that empowered its melody and harmony. The track “O Canto do Cisne Negro” (The Black Swan’s Chant) of the great composer Villa-Lobos also got a special adaptation.
“It is an album that will sound live, exactly as it sounded in the studio”, says Naná. The album Chegada was conceived when Naná got together with an amazing group of musicians, a mix of youth and experience.
Throughout his career, Naná Vasconcelos has lived more than thirty years between New York and Paris, and even so, he says he has never left his home country. Naná always had in his music and in his heart, simply, Brazil. During the period he lived abroad, Naná established several partnerships with great names in the entertainment industry, such as Pat Metheny, B.B King, David Byrne, among others. In Brazil, he worked with Milton Nascimento, Caetano Veloso and Itamar Assumpção. He is also requested for several movies and theater soundtracks around the world. Hide Description »
